World Diabetes Day is held on November 14 each year around the world, with the aim to encourage diabetes patients that with access to the right diabetes care, education and essential medicines, life can be lived to its fullest.
On 10th November 2013, Leo Club of Singapore Metropolitan helped out in the annual World Diabetes Day Singapore, organized by Diabetic Society of Singapore. It was a one-day event packed with activities such as consultation with dieticians and pharmacists, exhibition, blood sugar and eyes testing, educational talks and many other activities that equipped and empowered participants on how to manage diabetes better.
World Diabetes Day 2013 was a very meaningful and well-coordinated event as the diabetic patients and their family members received a lot of valuable information on diabetes managements. Through this event, I learnt more about diabetes and its complications, and I felt the agony of people with diabetes. Hopefully more similar events can be organized so that we can reach out to more diabetic patients and help them live their life to the fullest.
