SiLRA Christmas Celebration - December '12

During the season of giving, the Leo Club of Singapore Metropolitan sought to provide some Christmas cheer to the elderly residents of the SiLRA and to bring warmth and strength into their spirits.

On 9th December 2012, Leos and volunteers met at 3pm to decorate the home to enhance the festive spirit, decorating X'mas Trees and wearing shades of red and green. With the project fund that our Leo Club has raised in August 2012's Flea Market Fundraising, our Club purchased elderly-friendly gifts such as plastic boxes and soft snacks for the elderly. We also catered dinner for the elderly to make the event complete.

With the support of Leo Vice President Jannice and Leo Treasurer Tih Yong as the emcees, leos and volunteers played games, sang Christmas carols and interacted with the residents throughout the 3 hours activity.

The evening light at 6pm was the most awaited time of the day for leos and the elderly residents, as it meant that some of the elderly will be going on a bus tour to the city to view the Christmas lightings. It was an awesome experience as the elderly finally had the chance to tour around Singapore again.

Some of the residents reflected that they have enjoyed themselves and were elated that we celebrated X'mas with them. It was indeed our honour and pleasure to be able to celebrate the season of giving with the elderly and nothing could bring more joy to us than their smiles. We look forward to visiting them more often.
